{"id":10861,"date":"2015-02-21T13:45:12","date_gmt":"2015-02-21T18:45:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=10861"},"modified":"2015-02-21T13:45:12","modified_gmt":"2015-02-21T18:45:12","slug":"the-trouble-with-the-interview-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=10861","title":{"rendered":"The Trouble with The Interview (2014)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Interview2014_poster_s.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-10863\" alt=\"Interview2014_poster_s\" src=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Interview2014_poster_s.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"296\" \/><\/a>My dissection of <strong>Rosewater<\/strong> (2014) will be up shortly \u2013 I\u2019m adding related reviews to give the film some context, which you should find more intriguing that Jon Stewart\u2019s flawed drama \u2013 so in its place is, er, the Seth Rogan-James Franco comedy <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=10755\">The Interview<\/a><\/strong> (2014), which Sony eventually released on video to recoup some of the cash lost when the film\u2019s box office potential was essentially quashed by that hacking scandal.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m keeping this post brief, as coming right up are a pair of supernatural thrillers \u2013 Robert Wise\u2019s <strong>Audrey Rose<\/strong> (1971) + Carlos Mayolo\u2019s <strong>Bloody Flesh<\/strong> \/ <strong>Carne du tu carne <\/strong>\u00a0(1983) \u2013 but what I\u2019d rather see on video in place of <strong>The Interview<\/strong> is <strong>Comrad Kim Goes Flying<\/strong> (2012), a rare Belgium-UK-North Korean co-production which played at TIFF 2012, and featured a North Korean cast &amp; crew.<\/p>\n<p>Is it propaganda? Subversive cinema? Or the fluffy \u2018girl power\u2019 fantasy billed in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.comradekimgoesflying.com\/\" target=\"window\">official film website<\/a>? Who knows, because after doing the film festival circuit, it\u2019s vanished, making the whole endeavor rather pointless.
