There\u2019s six degrees of separation, and maybe two (or three) degrees of separation when it concerns a film where relative newcomers happen to cross paths.<\/p>\n<p><strong>California Dreaming<\/strong> isn\u2019t available on home video \u2013 old VHS tapes, TV airings, and YouTube are the current sources \u2013 but it should be, if not as a small curio then for fans of this not quite surfing dramady branded with a title taken from a popular song with rights issues that are apparently preventing it from gaining a legit release.<\/p>\n<p>The review\u2019s filled with a few links to related works starring or directed by its interesting cast &amp; crew, but I\u2019ll add that in addition to being tied to the Christopher-starring <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=12005\">Breaking Away<\/a><\/strong> (1979), there\u2019s also <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=12111\">Summer Lovers<\/a><\/strong> (1982), since director Randal Kleiser also directed O\u2019Connor in the TV movie <strong>The Boy in the Plastic Bubble <\/strong>(1976).<\/p>\n<p>Director Hancock also directed the film\u00a0<strong>Bang the Drum Slowly<\/strong> (1973) which starred Robert De Niro and featured a score by Stephen Lawrence, both of whom worked on\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=12072\">Jennifer on My Mind<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(1971).<\/p>\n<p>At least that\u2019s my excuse for reviewing the film.<\/p>\n<p>Cheers,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark R.
