{"id":14725,"date":"2016-11-17T11:37:07","date_gmt":"2016-11-17T16:37:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=14725"},"modified":"2016-11-18T03:27:54","modified_gmt":"2016-11-18T08:27:54","slug":"podcast-interview-with-age-of-consequences-director-jared-scott","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=14725","title":{"rendered":"Podcast Interview with Age of Consequences Director Jared Scott"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-14734 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/AgeOfConsequences_header_pic-1024x426.png\" alt=\"AgeOfConsequences_header_pic\" width=\"570\" height=\"237\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After premiering at this year&#8217;s Hot Docs, Jared Scott&#8217;s <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=14726\">The Age of Consequences<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(2016) gets its theatrical run in Canadian cinemas, and as Scott points out in my podcast interview, its release actually precedes the American run, perhaps a quirk of distribution agreements, or a testing maneuver to see how Scott&#8217;s provocative film on climate change is received and impacts audiences, if not build up extra media cred in case it&#8217;s branded as socialist propaganda by less open-minded media outlets.<\/p>\n<p>One could brand the film An Inconvenient Truth 2.0, but <strong>Consequences<\/strong> offers more tactile information tied to current (and sadly ongoing) political and social crises that continue to recur in daily news reports.\u00a0It&#8217;s also a film whose timing may prove ideal, offering a contrasting, rational view on climate which, as news pieces seem to infer, may become a lesser issue with the looming Trump Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Scott&#8217;s interviewees are primarily former military officials and service men and women who&#8217;ve experienced combat, seen the worst of humanity devour itself, and recognize the stressors that can push populations towards desperate actions; add radical changes in climate, and you get rippling humanitarian crises.<\/p>\n<p>In tandem with the review, I&#8217;ve posted the podcast interview on KQEK.com&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/ca\/podcast\/kqek.com-digital-big-head\/id955326826?mt=2\" target=\"_blank\">iTunes<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/bigheadamusements.libsyn.com\/kqekcom-interview-with-jared-scott-director-of-age-of-consequences-2016\" target=\"_blank\">Libsyn<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/PdT7ADFhqt8\" target=\"_blank\">YouTube<\/a> channels, and coming soon is another Hot Docs entry, <strong>Do Not Resist<\/strong> (2016), on the gradual militarization of local police departments +\u00a0a podcast interview with director Craig Atkinson.
