{"id":15976,"date":"2017-05-08T15:03:54","date_gmt":"2017-05-08T19:03:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=15976"},"modified":"2017-05-08T15:03:54","modified_gmt":"2017-05-08T19:03:54","slug":"woody-allens-another-woman-1988","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=15976","title":{"rendered":"Woody Allen&#8217;s Another Woman (1988)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-15977\" src=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AnotherWoman_poster.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"517\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AnotherWoman_poster.jpg 350w, https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/AnotherWoman_poster-203x300.jpg 203w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/>Woody Allen\u2019s drama of hitting a birthday milestone and the self-reflection it spawns didn\u2019t receive an exactly warm welcome in 1988 \u2013 Orion\u2019s trailer follows their standard format in selling a comedic Allen picture, but it fails completely for this unique work \u2013 but <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=15973\">Another Woman<\/a><\/strong> (1988) is a more successful attempt to fuse his brand of dry comedy, drama, and Bergmanesque qualities without being as earnest as <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=15574\">Interiors<\/a><\/strong> (1978).<\/p>\n<p>Twilight Time\u2019s Blu-ray sports a fine transfer, and no doubt Allen must have been giddy to work with Ingmar Bergman\u2019s main cinematographer, Sven Nykvist, resulting in three more collaborations \u2013 <strong>New York Stories<\/strong> (1989), <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=8860\">Crimes and Misdemeanors<\/a> <\/strong>(1989), and <strong>Celebrity<\/strong> (1998).<\/p>\n<p>Coming shortly will be a series of reviews from\u00a0the Toronto Jewish Film Festival, and if I can squeeze it into this week, a podcast.<\/p>\n<p>Cheers,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark R.
