Bill Brown\u2019s\u00a0Dark Prophecy<\/strong> is an unusual project: the music score was written for an interactive extension (dubbed \u201ccyber-bridges\u201d) to Anthony E. Zuiker\u2019s book\u00a0Dark Prophecy<\/strong>, part of the author\u2019s Level 26 series.<\/p>\n

MovieScore Media\u2019s album features the full 45 mins. score that\u2019s essentially based around a tender lullaby branded \u201cHenry\u2019s Theme,\u201d with a repeated figure on piano, and gentle, supportive strings.<\/p>\n

Brown\u2019s score shifts between the tenderness of the main theme to abstract passages of dissonance and reverb, and the album is sequenced to alternate between good \/ nasty modes.<\/p>\n

Flaring brass dominate \u201cThree of Cups,\u201d and there\u2019s a terrifying warped tone Brown employs in \u201cDeeper Waters\u201d and \u201cThe Devil\u201d that mimics a war plane coming fast around the corner. Unsettling harmonies dominate \u201cDark\u2019s Decision,\u201d and the creepy mood is furthered in \u201cVictims and Visions\u201d with techno pulses and flanging percussion.<\/p>\n

The album concludes with a recap of the main theme, which Brown initially begins with a distant, pulsing harp before bringing back the piano variation, and a full string chamber orchestra that backs the theme before a piano statement concludes the cue.<\/p>\n

A small, discrete little album that delves into grim human obsessions with welcoming moments of soothing stillness and contemplation.<\/p>\n
