Officially James Cameron\u2019s first feature film, it\u2019s also a debut he previously would\u2019ve preferred buried \u2013 I say previously, because after the myriad <strong>Terminator<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Avatar<\/strong> franchise entries and numerous <strong>Titanic<\/strong> feature and documentary productions, I\u2019m pretty sure he\u2019s just fine with it existing on home video.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_18341\" style=\"width: 339px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18341\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-18341 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Piranha2_sun_bunnies2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"329\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Piranha2_sun_bunnies2.jpg 329w, https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Piranha2_sun_bunnies2-247x300.jpg 247w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 329px) 100vw, 329px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-18341\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sadly, many sun bunnies &amp; sun studs are doomed in Piranha 2: The Spawning (1981).<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>P2 was released in both nudity-friendly and more gore-centric versions, and back in 1984 Cameron supervised a recut for the NTSC laserdisc which trimmed a goofy exploitation shocker into something more action-oriented. None of the prior video releases flattered the beautiful cinematography, making Shout\u2019s new Blu a real for fans of the <strong>Piranha <\/strong>franchise begun by Roger Corman in 1978.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll eventually get around to reviewing the first film and its related progeny, but for now here\u2019s an unnecessarily detailed review of P2 as it relates to Cameron\u2019s character archetypes and watery fixations, and some comparisons between the forgettable \u2018Director\u2019s Cut\u2019 available via YouTube (of course) and the uncut \u2018international\u2019 version preferred by producer and schlockmeister Ovidio Assonitis.<\/p>\n<p>Cheers,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark R.
