During the merry month of December I binged on a variety of films, hence this slight barrage of reviews spanning classic + a few new releases, of which the latest offering is Michael Moore’s provocative Fahrenheit 11\/9<\/a><\/strong> (2018) from Warner Home Video. I’ve paired it with Bruce Beresford’s tepid docu-drama Flint<\/a><\/strong> (2017), originally made for the Lifetime network.<\/p>\n Beresford’s film was shot primarily in Hamilton, Ontario, and made use of the city’s striking mid-century City Hall for what’s inarguably the film’s strongest scenes. Both films are worth a peek, as Flint<\/strong> chronicles the first traces of poisoning among citizens and their activism and confrontation of apathetic civic leaders, while Moore’s thesis ties Flint’s circumstances to the growing power of billionaires easing into state and federal politics with disastrous results.<\/p>\n Coming next<\/em>: reviews of Bad Times at the El Royal<\/strong> (2018), the latest narratively challenged film by producer-writer-director Drew Goddard + Quentin Tarantino’s own trick film, The Hateful Eight<\/strong> (2015) from eOne.<\/p>\n Cheers,<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Mark R.
