{"id":19487,"date":"2019-07-26T01:59:15","date_gmt":"2019-07-26T05:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=19487"},"modified":"2019-07-27T12:04:27","modified_gmt":"2019-07-27T16:04:27","slug":"blog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=19487","title":{"rendered":"Agusti Villaronga&#8217;s Moon Child: a Mystical Thriller for Adults"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-19490\" src=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/MoonChild1989_poster.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"408\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/MoonChild1989_poster.jpg 390w, https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/MoonChild1989_poster-221x300.jpg 221w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Back in December of 2018, Cult Epics released the second film by Spanish director Agusti Villaronga, the dreamy, taut, mystical thriller\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=19486\"><strong>Moon Child <\/strong>\/<strong> El Nino de la Luna<\/strong><\/a> (1989) &#8211; a very different, far less controversial work compared to his feature film debut,\u00a0<strong>In a Glass Cage<\/strong> (1986).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cage<\/strong> is an extremely well made, deeply unsettling film that some might peg as &#8216;It&#8217;s brilliant, but I never want to see it again,&#8217; whereas\u00a0<strong>Moon Child<\/strong> is a mystical tale for adults, starring Dead Can Dance&#8217;s Lisa Gerard, who also composed the score with her band.<\/p>\n<p>In my review I detail many of the film&#8217;s pros and a few weak spots, but it is a fascinating, slightly trippy thriller with tight atmosphere and gorgeous production design.<\/p>\n<p><em>Coming next:<\/em>\u00a0an interview with writer-director and composer Dante Tomaselli, who details his latest immersive concept album\u00a0<strong>Out-of-Body Experience<\/strong>, which is (rightly) billed as a sensory electronic music.
