earmarked for museum archiving, where the general public will be able to see the worl&#8217;s most successful spacecraft program.<\/p>\n<p>NASA&#8217;s first major ventures &#8211; the disposable Saturn rocket &#8211; was big, expensive, and used up a lot of resources, whereas the shuttle vehicles were designed for re-use, often characterized as &#8216;space taxis&#8217; capable of being launched into space with specific cargo (such as satellite) slated for release into Earth&#8217;s orbit, or parts necessary for reparing existing Big Science crafts, such as the Hubble Space Telescope &#8211; itself given one last tech upgrade and polish by NASA.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Hubble3D_IMAX_BR_b1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1876\" title=\"Hubble3D_IMAX_BR_b1\" src=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Hubble3D_IMAX_BR_b1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"72\" height=\"101\" \/><\/a>The timing for new (or remastered) IMAX space docs on home video is ideal, and the first wave actually began last fall, although <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/h\/3764_Hubble3DIMAX.htm\">Hubble 3D<\/a><\/strong> [<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=2720\">M<\/a>] (Warner Home Video) is perhaps more timely, since it documents what may be the telescope&#8217;s last servicing.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Hubble.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1877\" title=\"Hubble\" src=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Hubble.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"72\" height=\"101\" \/><\/a>The massive device that&#8217;s enabled us to see far beyond our realm was first given a salute in the 2005 doc <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/h\/3194_Hubble15Discovery.htm\">Hubble: 15 Years of Discovery<\/a><\/strong> [<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=2726\">M<\/a>] (SPV), which combined facts with images from Hubble, and striking animated montages of forming galaxies and stars created by John Dubinski.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Gravitas.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1878\" title=\"Gravitas\" src=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Gravitas.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"72\" height=\"101\" \/><\/a>Dubinski&#8217;s\u00a0amazingly hypnotic work showcased in the DVD <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/g\/3198_Gravitas.htm\">Gravitas: Portraits of a Universe in Motion<\/a><\/strong> [<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=2735\">M<\/a>] (2006).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hubble 3D<\/strong> is also the latest IMAX space film by Toni Myers (whose been involved with Big Space films as an editor, writer, producer, and director), and marks another collaboration between Myers and composers Micky Erbe and Maribeth Solomon, who&#8217;ve been scoring IMAX films since <strong>North of Superior<\/strong> (1971), as well as most of the space docs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/SpaceStation3D_IMAX_b.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1879\" title=\"SpaceStation3D_IMAX_b\" src=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/SpaceStation3D_IMAX_b.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"72\" height=\"101\" \/><\/a>Their prior space film was <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/s\/3764_SpaceStation3D_IMAX.htm\">Space Station 3D<\/a><\/strong> [<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=2713\">M<\/a>] (2002). and like <strong>Hubble 3D<\/strong>, both have been released on Blu-ray by WHV in flat and 3D versions.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/InsideSpaceStation.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1880\" title=\"InsideSpaceStation\" src=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/InsideSpaceStation.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"72\" height=\"101\" \/><\/a>To compliment the former, I&#8217;ve also uploaded\u00a0 a review of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/i\/3765_InsideSpaceStation.htm\">Inside the Space Station<\/a><\/strong> [<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=2717\">M<\/a>] (2000), a Discovery Channel doc that&#8217;s heavier on facts than grandiose visuals.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Solarmax_IMAX.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1881\" title=\"Solarmax_IMAX\" src=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Solarmax_IMAX.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"72\" height=\"101\" \/><\/a>Each of the IMAX reviews have links to related\u00a0films &amp;
