{"id":3903,"date":"2011-12-07T02:35:43","date_gmt":"2011-12-07T07:35:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/?p=2685"},"modified":"2011-12-07T02:35:43","modified_gmt":"2011-12-07T07:35:43","slug":"maniac-cop-2-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=3903","title":{"rendered":"Maniac Cop 2 + 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/ManiacCop2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2686\" title=\"ManiacCop2\" src=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/ManiacCop2-120x150.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>I was extremely surprised to discover William Lustig\u2019s  sequel to his mighty B-film classic <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/m\/3941_ManiacCop1988.htm\">Maniac Cop<\/a><\/strong> [<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=3802\">M<\/a>] (1988) boasts even better  stunts and montages than the first.<\/p>\n<p>Actually,  that\u2019s not really fair to the first film, because <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/m\/3944_ManiacCop2.htm\">Maniac  Cop 2<\/a><\/strong> [<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=3878\">M<\/a>] (1990) is unique for possessing its own crazy DNA.<\/p>\n<p>MC2 is quite frankly an awesome little B-movie, filled with  a marvelous cast of character actors, cameos, and some casting choices that pay  off really well in the otherwise less-than satisfying follow-up,\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/m\/3945_ManiacCop3.htm\">Maniac  Cop 3: Badge of Silence<\/a><\/strong> [<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=3881\">M<\/a>]  (1993).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/ManiacCop3.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2687\" title=\"ManiacCop3\" src=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/ManiacCop3-120x150.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>First Look released the two sequels on DVD a few years ago,  but the pair is ripe for their own special edition Blu-rays, with commentaries and the usual goodies.  I\u2019d frankly love to hear screenwriter Larry Cohen explain his character arcs across the three films; and Lustig talking about casting not one but  <em>three <\/em>actors from the original <strong>Die Hard<\/strong> in little memorable roles.<\/p>\n<p>Efforts to remake MC have popped up over the years, including  Chris Notarile\u2019s 2008 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/video\/wab\/vi411632665\/\" >promo  short<\/a>. Should it be remade? NO, because its cast is <em>perfect<\/em>, the script is  smart &amp; snappy, and Lustig\u2019s direction is inimitable\u2026 and yet plans are  underway, with a scrip co-written by Alexandre Aja and Gregory Levasseur, with  Franck Khalfoun in the director\u2019s chair.<\/p>\n<p>The trio\u2019s last theatrical effort was 2007\u2019s <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/p2r\/3295_P2.htm\">P2<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Not a good omen.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark R.
