{"id":4915,"date":"2012-05-21T14:20:11","date_gmt":"2012-05-21T18:20:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/?p=3185"},"modified":"2012-05-21T14:20:11","modified_gmt":"2012-05-21T18:20:11","slug":"go-on%e2%80%a6-bite-the-bullet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=4915","title":{"rendered":"Go on\u2026 Bite the Bullet!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_3186\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 210px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/BiteTheBullet_Sp_poster_s.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3186\" title=\"BiteTheBullet_Sp_poster_s\" src=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/BiteTheBullet_Sp_poster_s.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"289\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Oh you nasty, murderous bala!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>It&#8217;s Victoria Day in Canuckleland (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Victoria_Day\" >this is what we do<\/a> on this &#8216;combustible&#8217; salute to Queen Victoria), and starting the new week is a review of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/b\/3981_BiteTheBullet1975.htm\">Bite the Bullet<\/a><\/strong> [<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=4908\">M<\/a>] (Twilight Time), a 1975 western written &amp; directed by Richard Brooks, and kind of forgotten, missed, and ignored because it&#8217;s just never managed to reach a broad fan for unknown reasons.<\/p>\n<p>This happens to films all the time, particularly small films, but <strong>Bite<\/strong> isn&#8217;t a micro-budget B-movie; it&#8217;s a sprawling western about a cross-country horse race featuring stunning widescreen cinematography, amazing action scenes &amp; stunts, striking locations, and a pounding Alex North score. It&#8217;s also one of the best-looking HD transfers of a classic out this year, and Sony ough to be proud they have such a great team of technicians transferring their rich catalogue to HD.<\/p>\n<p>I still think they&#8217;re nuts for not making a speciale edition of their own (Gene Hackman and Candice Bergen are still alive, you know), but it all works out for Twilight Time, since they&#8217;re becoming the main label of classic Hollywood catalogue titles on Blu. The review&#8217;s up, and coming shortly is a lengthy review of Warner Home Video&#8217;s <strong>Casablanca<\/strong> BR boxed set, and soundtrack reviews, plus a review of Brian Jamieson&#8217;s affectionate Nancy Kwan documentary, <strong>To Whom It May COncern: Ka Shen&#8217;s Journey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark R.
