{"id":5588,"date":"2012-10-08T17:38:52","date_gmt":"2012-10-08T21:38:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/?p=3480"},"modified":"2012-10-08T17:38:52","modified_gmt":"2012-10-08T21:38:52","slug":"the-mystique-of-denmark%e2%80%99s-the-killing-forbrydelsen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=5588","title":{"rendered":"The Mystique of Denmark\u2019s The Killing \/ Forbrydelsen"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_3483\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 199px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/KillingR2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3483\" title=\"KillingR2\" src=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/KillingR2.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"189\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Don&#39;t mess with the Danish Sweater Girl! \/ Nyall maesij mit dat swootjelore Danske!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>It&#8217;s Thanksgiving up here, and the trees are already shifting colours, birds are grouping together before the big flight south, and\u00a0millions of our psychotic, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/results?search_query=squirrels+licking+window\" >window-licking <\/a>black squirrels are fattening themselves up in advance of\u00a0the evil white stuff [snow].<\/p>\n<p>Just uploaded is the thing that devoured a substantial chunk of my\u00a0time last week &#8211; Season 1 of the original Danish series <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/j2l\/4020_KillingForbrydelsenS1.htm\">The Killing \/ Forbrydelsen<\/a><\/strong> [<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=5581\">M<\/a>] which aired in 2007 and spawned two additional season (one which is airing right now).<\/p>\n<p>At some point I&#8217;ll watch the U.S. version that aired on AMC &#8211; purely for comparison, and curiosity as to how they adapted the material and characters for the American market &#8211; but coming soon will be a review of Season 2.<\/p>\n<p>This is my first exposure to Nordic TV series, and I get it: they&#8217;re amazing for their characters, plotting, pacing, mood, and nuances. They are the crack cocaine of mystery TV series, and I bow to their superiority. Hopefully Frans Bak&#8217;s score CD will get some wide distribution in Europe, given he scored both the Danish and U.S. series.<\/p>\n<p>Coming next: CD reviews of <strong>Arbitrage<\/strong>, <strong>Blade Runner<\/strong>, and <strong>Looper<\/strong>, plus reviews of two films currently screening at The Bloor: <strong>Detropia <\/strong>(2012) and <strong>Reqiem for Detroit?<\/strong> (2010).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark R.
