{"id":6117,"date":"2013-02-01T16:10:26","date_gmt":"2013-02-01T21:10:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/?p=3761"},"modified":"2013-02-01T16:10:26","modified_gmt":"2013-02-01T21:10:26","slug":"beware-of-mr-baker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=6117","title":{"rendered":"Beware of Mr. Baker"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_3762\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 244px\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/BewareOfMrBaker_pic_b.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3762\" title=\"BewareOfMrBaker_pic_b\" src=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/BewareOfMrBaker_pic_b.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"234\" height=\"216\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mr. Baker can now &#39;see&#39; the music in full Technicolor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Another engaging rock doc ends its initial run at the Bloor  Cinema \u2013 mostly likely it\u2019ll return, like this weekend\u2019s reprise of Michael  Apted\u2019s <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bloorcinema.com\/movies\/56-UP\/?is_archive=0#Cinemon_MovieDescription\" >56  Up<\/a><\/strong> (2012) \u2013 but it\u2019s worth catching <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/b\/4045_BewareOfMrBaker.htm\">Beware  of Mr. Baker <\/a><\/strong>[<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=6096\">M<\/a>] (2012) on the big screen,  especially with an audience as they too absorb the wild details of pioneering  rock drummer \/ jazz drummer Ginger Baker.<\/p>\n<p>Best known for his work with super group Cream, Baker\u2019s  maniacal performance style (is there any other for the top drummers?) was  affected by drug use \u2013 the inference is some of his best work stemmed from  prolonged states of chemical bliss \u2013 but he was and remains his own worst  enemy, charged with a peculiar self-destructive force that often had him  jumping to another country to restart his life after a near-disaster.<\/p>\n<p>A good chunk of his work is available on DVD, so there\u2019s  little doubt Jay Bulger\u2019s film won\u2019t get a video release sometime this year.<\/p>\n<p>Coming next: a podcast with <strong>Mama<\/strong> composer Fernando Velazquez.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark R.
