Amazingly, I managed a fully coherent podcast with Rob  Simonsen, an up &amp; coming composer who\u2019s enjoyed an internship with  Oscar-nominated composer Mychael Danna (<strong>Life  of Pi<\/strong>). The discussion of working with the esteemed Canadian composer, and  Simonsen\u2019s own work in film, will be up next week.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, there\u2019s\u00a0  a trio of new soundtrack reviews: Sony\u2019s 50th  anniversary CD of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/cd_lp_reviews\/b\/CD_0421_ByeByeBirdie.htm\">Bye Bye  Birdie <\/a><\/strong>[<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=6136\">M<\/a>] (1963), which features another set  of bonus tracks, and two CDs from BSX Records: new theme performances in <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/cd_lp_reviews\/f\/CD_0420_FilmNoirsFinest.htm\">Film  Noir\u2019s Finest <\/a><\/strong>[<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=6150\">M<\/a>], and Alan Howarth\u2019s strikingly  faithful re-recordings of John Carpenter\u2019s <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/cd_lp_reviews\/a\/CD_0419_AssaultPrecinct13_DarkStar.htm\">Assault  on Precinct 13 and Dark Star<\/a><\/strong> [<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=6143\">M<\/a>] \u2013 the latter previously available  in a music \/ dialogue \/ sound effects suite.<\/p>\n<p>Coming this weekend are Twilight Time reviews, and if the  fog in the brain has sufficiently dissipated, some test footage of trippy  feedback effects using video gear older than your children.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark R.
