{"id":6449,"date":"2013-04-26T22:29:12","date_gmt":"2013-04-27T02:29:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/?p=3950"},"modified":"2013-04-26T22:29:12","modified_gmt":"2013-04-27T02:29:12","slug":"borgen-season-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=6449","title":{"rendered":"Borgen: Season 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/BorgenSeason2_BR_b.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3951\" title=\"BorgenSeason2_BR_b\" src=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/BorgenSeason2_BR_b.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"152\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Until the second season makes its debut in North America (presumably via Mhz Networks, who handled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/b\/4059_BorgenSeason1.htm\">Season 1<\/a> [<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=6324\">M<\/a>]), fans will have to settle for the\u00a0import release of\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/b\/4066_BorgenSeason2.htm\">Borgen: Season 2 <\/a><\/strong>[<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=6443\">M<\/a>] on DVD and Blu-ray via Britain&#8217;s Spirit Entertainment \/ Arrow Films &#8211; the latter label is responsible for a series of packed\u00a0BR releases of Mario Bava classics with full extras, like the upcoming <strong>Black Sabbath<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Season 2 offers\u00a0another satisfying batch of 10 episodes, but unlike the prior season, the finale sets things up for a slight reset within Prime Minister Nyborg&#8217;s administration. The BBC is slated to air English-subtitled episodes of Season 3 in January of 2014, which will be a painful wait &#8211; but there&#8217;s no shortage of Nordic shows available on video in the U.K., Australia, and North America.<\/p>\n<p><em>Coming soon: <\/em>will be a review of <strong>Those Who Kill<\/strong> \/ <strong>Dem som draeber<\/strong> (2011), the short-lived series that pretty much riffs the CSI template in feature-length episodes (plus one theatrical effort) and features several actors from both <strong>Borgen<\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kqek.com\/dvd_reviews\/j2l\/4020_KillingForbrydelsenS1.htm\">The Killing <\/a><\/strong>[<a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=5581\">M<\/a>]; and <strong>Ornen <\/strong>\/ <strong>The Eagle: Season 1<\/strong> (2004), a German-Scandinavian co-production which manages to transcend the tiresome anti-terrorist elite squad sub-sub genre with some novel twists and a great docu-drama style.<\/p>\n<p><em>Coming next<\/em>:\u00a0\u00a0a set of\u00a0soundtrack reviews, and some George Romero on DVD and Blu.\u00a0Because Hot Docs runs April 25 &#8211; May 5, some updates will run in clusters as I&#8217;ll be hopping between cinemas.
