{"id":7480,"date":"2014-01-23T16:35:42","date_gmt":"2014-01-23T21:35:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/?p=4651"},"modified":"2014-01-23T16:35:42","modified_gmt":"2014-01-23T21:35:42","slug":"sinbad-on-blu-%e2%80%93-double-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=7480","title":{"rendered":"Sinbad on Blu \u2013 Double-Time!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just uploaded are lengthy \/ analytical reviews  of Twilight Time\u2019s latest Ray Harryhausen titles: <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=7467\">The Golden Voyage of Sinbad<\/a><\/strong> (1972) with John Phillip Law, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/kqek.com\/mobile\/?p=7470\">Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger<\/a> <\/strong>(1977)  with Patrick Wayne.<\/p>\n<p>I also look into the  different <strong>Golden<\/strong> releases which have featured an assortment of ratios, and perhaps more important, director Gordon Hessler&#8217;s rather remarkable celebration of Caroline Munro&#8217;s heaving bosom. One suspects he was inspired by Miss Munro\u2019s popular participation in Lamb\u2019s Navy Rum print campaign:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4652\" style=\"width: 302px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/CarolineMunro_LambsNavyRum.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4652\" title=\"CarolineMunro_LambsNavyRum\" src=\"http:\/\/mondomark.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/CarolineMunro_LambsNavyRum.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"292\" height=\"406\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#39;Prior to pouring quality rum, one must always be prepared for any natural event.&#39;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>Film historian Julie Kirgo refers to Munro\u2019s Arabian outfits  as \u2018go-go dancer\u2019 attire, which is probably correct, but I\u2019d rather regard them  as exceptional efforts by the filmmakers and their united team of craftspeople to bridge the historical nuances of  the ancient world with fickle contemporary audiences, and the young lads who  would have rejected Munro in anything less that an outfit which evoked the aura  of her refined commercial self.<\/p>\n<p>This is I believe to be 100% likely, if not true.<\/p>\n<p><em>Coming shortly:<\/em> reviews of <strong>House on Straw Hill<\/strong> (Synapse) plus Elio Petri\u2019s experimental shocker <strong>A Quiet Place in the Country<\/strong> (1968).<\/p>\n<p><em>And right after<\/em>: \u00a0reviews of Jeffrey Obrow and Stephen Carpenter&#8217;s <strong>The Power<\/strong> (new from Scorpion Releasing) and the  still unavailable <strong>The Kindred<\/strong> (1987).<\/p>\n<p>Cheers,<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark R.
