Glenn Ford – the Great and the Bad

August 17, 2012 | By

At least this poster reflects a real event!

Would love to blather at end about how great Glenn Ford was at playing tormented tough guys in brilliant noir dramas like Fritz Lang’s The Big Heat [M] (out on Blu via Twilight Time), and still managed to keep his dignity amid crap like Columbia’s blatant attempt to reprocess the teaming of Ford and Rita Hayworth in Affair in Trinidad [M] (Sony), but alas, there’s much to do.

However, the Star just reported the Toronto Undergound cinema’s folding in September due to some interesting circumstances.

It’s sad, regardless, given it’s a 700 seat cinema that may become something dumb like a media & yoga room for the tenants in the condo units above, but the guys behind the indie cinema took a worthy gamble at offering something different.

Here’s a link to a 2010 blog & interview , when everything was all shiny & new.
