Podcast Interview with composer Ceiri Torjussen + the music of Test (2014)

October 10, 2014 | By

Just posted on YouTube is my podcast interview with composer-orchestrator Ceiri Torjussen, regarding his recent CD release, Test (2014), orchestrating for Marco Beltrami (Snowpiercer), and his music for the upcoming documentary Becoming Bulletproof (2014).

Because the score for Test was written to evoke the synth sounds of the film’s setting – 1985 – I’ve designed background visuals for select score extracts using some gear from that era.

I’ve posted a brief making-of blog at Big Head Amusements with stills of the gear, but more details will appear in a follow-up blog at BHA, with both behind-the-scenes video footage and before / after comparisons of the feedback effects created using a vintage camera, mixer, and a few ‘black boxes.’ An upload next week of the three complete background visuals (without superimposed text & publicity art) will be archived on Vimeo and YouTube.

Coming shortly: reviews of three films produced by CanCon producer Peter R. Simpson – Prom Night (1980) and Curtains (1983) on Blu from Synapse Films + the wholly forgotten drama Melanie (1982) co-starring Burton Cummings; and a review of Twilight Time’s Blu-ray edition of Fritz Lang’s Man Hunt (1941).

Cheers,
