Soundtrack Reviews + Interview with Sound Engineer Richard Moore

October 31, 2014 | By

FilmMusicReviews_square_picJust posted at KQEK.com are reviews of Ceiri Torjussen’s hand-crafted musique concrete score for the new horror film The Canal (2014) and an expanded reissue of Gary Numan’s From Inside (2008) from Lakeshore Records.

Also: at my Rue Morgue blog I’ve posted an interview with Richard Moore, the sound engineer tasked with remastering Roy Budd’s huge score for The Phantom of the Opera (1925). (This is a follow-up profile of the score’s respective DVD and CD release, and my interview with the composer’s widow, Sylvia Budd.)

The Moore interview touches upon remastering older recordings, as well as Moore’s own philosophy to audio engineering – staying true to the original intentions of the composer and original sound engineer while upgrading a recording to contemporary technical standards.

Cheers,
