Exit: Music and Saving Masterpieces of Classical Music

February 15, 2017 | By

The Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema is currently showing Exit: Music (2016), James Murdoch and Simon Wynberg’s solid documentary on five Jewish and primarily German composers persecuted by the Nazi regime, and their unique stories which also function as introductions to the beautiful work deemed degenerate and banned by the Nazis, and forgotten by post-WWII Europe.

It’s a brisk yet informative examination of the brilliant talent and careers cut short during WWII, and their struggles to reassert their prominence among less keen postwar audiences.

Coming shortly: review of Kedi (2016), also playing at the HDTRC.

Cheers,
