Art Bastard: The Robert Cenedella Story
Just posted a review of Victor Kanefsky’s excellent Art Bastard (2016), a lively documentary on NYC artist Robert Cendella that’s also one of the most skillfully edited narratives in recent years. Kanefsky’s long career as an editor spans various genres, and he’s a perfect example of what transpires when editorial skill tackles a complex production, something I discussed with the director for an upcoming podcast that will be up by Wednesday.
Art Bastard is currently running at the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema until Friday October 21, and according to the cinema’s website, Cendella will participate in a Skype Q&A at tonight’s 6:30pm screening.
Coming shortly: review of Twilight Time’s Blu-ray of Count Yorga (1970).
